  1. Why did you started writing?

For the silliest/most fun reason! I discovered fanfiction while living abroad in Japan. It was such a riot to read that I thought I’d try my hand at writing it. Little did I know it would snowball into a full-time career.

  1. You write darker books, why the darkness, is there are reason why you started writing with that kind of theme?

I write dark books because I like to read dark books. It’s really that simple. I don’t write for an audience, I write 100% for myself and the story I want to read.

  1. When you published your first book, how did that make you feel? And do you still feel the same with other books you published?

There is this amazing, beautiful terror that comes with releasing that first novel. It’s exciting to share your work, and even with 14 some odd books out now, it’s still exciting.

  1. If you could meet your most favourite or famous person, what would you wear?

I am not fashion savvy in the slightest. Heck, it’s a rare day if my socks match. But, if I was going to meet my favorite person, I’d ask my more stylish friends to pick out my clothes.

  1. Where do you get your inspiration from?

Dreams. I have the wildest dreams.

  1. Do you have any odd habits?

My husband thinks it’s totally weird how I will listen to the same song on a loop when writing. Each book had one song (or soundtrack) that I wrote the whole damn thing to.

  1. What is your favourite color?

Today, it’s green.

  1. What is your favourite type of furniture?

Guillotine or sex swing. Just kidding. If we’re talking about my most cherished piece of furniture, then my bed all the way. Sleep is a wonderful thing… at least it was before I had a newborn. Now I can’t remember what sleep is. Hahaha

  1. Gnomes yes or no? And when you get to talk to one, what is the first question you would ask?

This is my favorite question so far. Hell yes to gnomes! If I had one in front of me right now, I’d ask it where in the heck it put all my baby’s socks. I swear, they have all vanished in the two months since she was born. Stop taking my baby’s socks, gnomes!

  1. What was the name of your first stuffed animal?

Michelle.

  1. You write darker books, why the darkness, is there are reason why you started writing with that kind of theme?

I write dark books because I like to read dark books. It’s really that simple. I don’t write for an audience, I write 100% for myself and the story I want to read.

  1. Who is your favorite author?

Teresa Denys.

  1. Would you say you have a distinct writing style?

I suppose any author would say they do. I take a lot of risks in my work, with both plot and prose.

  1. Do you have any hobbies?

I love to garden!

  1. Have you ever visited any other countries?

Yes, and I have lived in several as well—most notably Japan and Ireland.

  1. What is your biggest distractor during writing?

My baby. She is a cute muffin, so it’s okay.

  1. If you could change one thing about a book you wrote which book and what would you change?

Great question and one I am in the middle of “doing”.  My Irdesi Empire series is going through a revamp right now: fresh edits, new covers… all to herald in the release of book 3, Que.

  1. How long does it take you to normally write a book?

It really depends. Some books I work on for years on and off, some I write in a couple months. I typically have several projects going at once.

  1. Who is your favorite historical figure?Tomoe-Gozen

Tomoe Gozen, super badass female warrior famous for collecting the heads of her enemies. Look her up, she led a fascinating life.

  1. If you could pick your favorite male character, not your own, who would it be?

Dominico from Teresa Denys, The Silver Devil. He is pure selfishness, but so layered and interesting it makes a perfect antihero.
