So this review is a little different as I am going to do a series of books that keep getting additional ones, but I figured I would share about it as I really enjoyed this series. It is a shorter series, but I couldn’t stop reading it. The series is Dragon School and as of right now there are four in the series with the fifth due out in February. This series is by Sarah K. L. Wilson. The story is about Amel, a sixteen year old girl that to help her family gives up her home to attend Dragon School. Amel is different from everyone else there, she was crippled as a child and does not have the use of her left leg and hip.
But that doesn’t stop her from wanting to become a Dragon Rider. On their first day each student gets to pick their dragons. They range in color from Black (the builders), to blue, to white (the healers), to red and gold and to a single purple. The students all get to pick starting with the most influential of families to the lowest, Amel. Once it becomes Amel’s turn there aren’t very many left. But then a voice in her head tells her that he is the dragon for her and that he in fact has chosen her. And his name is Raolcan.

Prism: The Color Alchemist book one by Nina Walker has such an interesting take on what can happen to the world farther down the line. The kingdom of New Colony run by King Richard and his wife and their one son Lucas. In the kingdom of New Colony the world is very different. It is the most prosperous country in the world residing in what is the east coast of the United States. In New Colony what makes them different from everyone else is the use of powerful Color Alchemists that have the ability to use colors for things like healing and listening and strength. But what makes New Colony interesting is that if you are found out to be a Color Alchemist you are taken from your family to never see them again and raised at the Guardian Colors compound on the castle grounds. Normally children around the age of six begin showing the affinity for alchemy and are taken, but there is always the exception to the rule. Jessa is sixteen and without knowing it uses and separates a color while she is on stage dancing in front of the King and Lucas. She is able to pull the purple from her clothes and break it down into blue and red, something that is unheard of. She is taken from her family, leaving behind her younger sister Lacey and sent to the palace to learn. Little does she know that the crown prince has taken an interest in her and has been assigned by his father to watch over her training and make sure that she produces red.

A Bond of Blood and Fire, the Goddess and the Guardians, book two by Karen Tomlinson.
I read this right after the first book. And got hooked in seconds. The writer has grown so much between the first book and this one.
The story continues with Diamond in training to become the weapon that the Queen wants her to be. Only one thing that makes it a lot more difficult, is Hugo. He is now nothing more than her enemy, feeling betrayed by him. Not knowing if she ever will trust him again, she starts her training. Hugo trains her hard and with some help of the goddess she becomes stronger, better and faster.
Diamond trains and trains. Her relationship with Hugo keeps changing, from great to terrible. Hugo knows that they are Nexus that they meant to be with each other. And he tries to win Diamond back, to make her trust him again. Something that isn’t that simple.
Her training goes well, and her relationship with Hugo gets better making her happy. Finding new friends and finding out that she can do more.
Then the Queen finds out that her commander and Diamond are growing towards each other again. And she gives Diamond the test, a horrible test. After she passes the test she is send to the Wall to fight Giants, dragons and the army of the Wraith lord.
Here she needs to train her magic to become even stronger and save everyone in Valentia.
It gives also her and Hugo the freedom to find out what is between them. Read More »
A Bond of Venom and Magic, the Goddess and the Guardians. Book one by Karen Tomlinson.
I found this book by accident. And first when I started to read it, I thought oke not my kind of book. It took me two chapters to find the rhythm and to start enjoying the book. And then I couldn’t put it away.
It tells the story of Diamond a half-blood fae and Hugo a fae. To be honest I don’t like the name Diamond, still after reading both book don’t like the name. Luckily for me, I can get over that fact.
Diamond lives with her father in a small town in the woods. One day her father finds out that they are under attack by the creatures of the Wraith Lord, an immortal who sucks souls to gain strength and to conquer the world. He races towards his house to find that his daughter Diamond isn’t there and goes looking for her. She gets surrounded by creatures and her father first saves her with a family friend of theirs. Then when everything seems lost a group of fae warriors rescue her.
To keep her safe, she and a friend are taken away. And then everything starts.
There are only a few problems. The commander who saved her, Hugo, is in service of the queen and that means that when he finds out that Diamond has magic, he needs to bring her to the Queen. And she is an evil bitch, she sucks all the magic out of fae or half-bloods with magic. Only the ones with gold wings can stay alive, they become her personal guard. The others with colours like green, red, white are all killed.
Hugo is sworn to the Queen to do everything she wants, and that is problem number one. Read More »
The newest series by C.N. Crawford is here. Covert Fae is the first (though there is a prequel that I totally recommend you check out) in A Spy Among Angels series. The world has gone to hell, well to the Angels, but they aren’t the god forgiving ones that everyone thinks they are. In fact they are more like the smite and bring fire and brimstone down upon the earth. Eighteen months ago the dragon shifters came and destroyed the world, taking women with them when they left. Ruby’s sister was snatched from her while she was cornered by dragons and saved by a rather blood thirsty angel. The angel took an interest in Ruby, but he mistook her for something else. Ruby is in fact a Fae, but to feed into her fae powers, she loved dancing and had a stage persona. She was Angela Death a succubus. Her fae powers give her the gift over illusion even down to her scent and her aura. Ruby fled New York and ended up following the Angel that saved her in London hoping he could help her find her sister.
